How it Works

Step 1. Choose your photos

Choose the photo or photos you would like me to work from. To help you pick, there are some image guidelines here. Higher quality clear images make for the highest quality portraits, but I can work from any photos you have to create a portrait you will love. Your photo is the most important aspect when you commission your portrait as I rarely get to meet my subjects in person, the images I receive are my only guide. I generally work from one main photo when drawing, but I love seeing multiple images and getting descriptions of the subject from you to gain a true idea of appearance and personality. For images merging separate photos into one, images from similar angles in similar lighting work best, but I can accommodate for some differences in this if necessary.

Step 2. Choose your size

The next thing to choose is your preferred size. I aim to create a detailed portrait whatever size you choose, but some images are better suited to a certain size, for example a lower quality image of one subject will look best as an A5 portrait. The portrait size determines the price as larger portraits take much longer to complete.

Step 3. Wait for your portrait

After we have agreed on the perfect size and image for your portrait, I ask for a 50% booking deposit to book in via PayPal or bank transfer. This deposit secures your space and guarantees its completion for your preferred date. If desired I can send progress photos as I create your portrait, and I will then send a completed scanned image on completion before the final payment and postage. Please allow at least 5 weeks for your commission to be completed, any portraits booked in later than 5 weeks in advance will be charged a fast track free. If you have a date the portrait is needed for please inform me before payment of the deposit in order to determine the timescale for production.
